Where beauty and sustainability become art.
Ever since I was introduced to Davines by my hairstylist, I have never looked back. The moment I walked into my hair salon some five years ago, the soft, pastel colours of Davines’ Essentials Line and the bold-coloured creative drawings of their NaturalTech line immediately caught my eye. So when I finally decided to transition to Davines’ products, my interest had already been piqued.
As I sat in the chair with my head tilted back, and the Junior Hairstylist lathered my hair, the various aromas played with my senses. They were refreshing, therapeutic, and some even, relaxing. When I decided to probe about the array of products, I learned about the company’s philosophy and that there were products for all different hair types and maladies.
“By creating beauty, we hope to encourage people to take care of themselves, of the environment in which they live and work, and of the things they love.”
Whenever I discover a brand that I align with, a spark ignites inside of me that tingles my senses. With Davines, their philosophy was something I was already striving towards – taking care of myself, and my immediate and distant environments. It is important to me that while on this journey to a more wellness-focused life, the brands and products I surround myself with also promote the same sentiments.
What drew me to Davines the most was their attention to detail. It is evident the Bolatti family have been passionate about their products for over two decades now. For this brand, haircare and beauty were not just something to acquire or monetize – it was an art, and their products, their paint. When it comes to craftsmanship, Davines’ style ”is a reflection of [their] curiosity and openness to the world…different cultures, customs, and people that truly inspire [them].” As an Italian brand, their “perspective on history, art, design and fashion, culture, and lifestyle gets translated into the brand.”
Environmentally, Davines’ awareness of their global footprint impresses me. I recall a time where my hairstylist spoke of an experience she had while attending a summit at Davines’ headquarters in Parma. She had a hands-on experience where environmentalism was at the heart of their agenda. Every stylist who attended, for example, planted different trees which are also used in their products, making a never-ending cycle of giving and receiving from Earth herself.
“At Davines we believe that living a balance of beauty and sustainability, what we call sustainable beauty, can improve our lives and the world around us. Sustainability encompasses the responsibility we owe ourselves and the world in which we live and operate.”
Davines champions more than five different eco-conscious projects including, Renewable Energy initiatives, and Sustainable Beauty Day where proceeds go towards protecting forests, strengthening communities through agriculture, and environmental upgrading. In a world where consumers are increasingly demanding transparency in the brands they consider, Davines emphasizes the meaning of transparency and responsibility, and it is seamlessly evident in their brand.
